Vein Treatments
Non-invasive laser treatments that target and close unwanted veins, making them fade naturally.
About Vein Treatments
Spider veins tend to get worse over time, so the sooner you treat them, the less complicated the treatment will be. Left untreated, spider veins may spread or become more visible, making future treatment more intensive. The most effective treatments for spider veins are Sclerotherapy and Laser Treatment, both of which aim to collapse and eliminate unwanted blood vessels near the skin's surface.
At DermaEnvy Skincare, we use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and YAG laser technology to treat visible veins. These systems deliver a spectrum of light energy to the skin. This concentrated pulse of light is absorbed by the blood in the vein, creating heat that damages the vein walls. Over time, the damaged vein collapses, shrinks, and is naturally reabsorbed by the body leaving your skin clearer and more even-toned.
How Laser Vein Treatments Work
Our non-invasive laser technology is designed to safely and effectively treat unwanted blood vessels with minimal discomfort and no downtime. The energy delivered by the laser creates targeted heat inside the blood vessel, causing its walls to seal shut. This process is highly controlled, meaning the laser energy precisely affects only the vein being treated, without harming the surrounding skin.
DermaEnvy’s IPL and Nd:YAG laser devices include specialized filters to optimize results based on vein size, depth, and skin tone. The IPL filter selectively targets the blood vessels while leaving surrounding tissue untouched. Similarly, the Nd:YAG laser offers deeper penetration for veins that sit slightly below the skin surface, making it especially useful for treating reticular veins or veins on clients with darker skin tones.
Because the treatment is non-invasive, there’s no need for needles or surgical incisions, and clients can return to daily activities immediately following a session of laser spider vein treatment or leg vein laser removal.
What Veins We Can Treat
Laser therapy is effective for a variety of veins, from small, superficial vessels to slightly deeper ones. Among the most common types we treat are:
- Spider veins: Thin, web-like veins caused by the dilation of small vessels near the skin’s surface. These often appear red, purple, or blue.
- Reticular veins: Slightly larger, bluish veins located just beneath the skin that often feed into spider veins. Treating both types together can enhance cosmetic outcomes.
Laser treatments can be a great option for those looking to reduce visible leg veins for cosmetic reasons. The procedure does not damage the outer layer of skin, although temporary bruising or redness may occur and typically fades within a few days to a couple of weeks.
Please Note: We only treat cosmetic veins that are flat and unraised. If your veins are raised, bulging, or painful, they may be classified as varicose veins, which require medical evaluation and possibly a referral to a vascular specialist. In these cases, we recommend booking a consultation with a licensed physician or vein clinic.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR VEIN REMOVAL
To begin it is important to know that for the majority of people, laser vein removal works very well and may reduce the number of undesired veins by 70 – 90% after your required treatment sessions. We cannot guarantee permanent vein removal.
To get the most from your appointment, shave on the day before treatment or on the morning before treatment – skin tends to be more sensitive for a couple hours after you shave, so it is not a good idea to shave immediately prior to the procedure. Hair is often pigmented and can absorb laser energy that is meant for the vein treatment. This wastes some of the laser energy and you may not get the full laser treatment that you want on the unwanted vein. Extra hair on the skin surface may also increase the chance of causing a skin burn.
Avoid tanning – the laser can effectively treat all skin types and can be adjusted if you have tanned to a different skin colour, however, the most effective laser treatment occurs in people with lightly coloured skin.
This means that we can still do laser vein treatment on tanned and/or darker skin but if you want to get the most bang for your buck, avoid tanning (artificial or real) for 2 weeks prior to your laser vein treatment session. Tanning lotions and creams artificially colour your skin and this has the same effects with the laser as does a real tan. If you do have a recent tan or have recently been in the sun, please inform us when you come in for your laser session so we can adjust the laser to get the best results or properly advise you as to post-treatment care.

POST-TREATMENT CARE FOR VEIN TREATMENT
Please be advised that you may expect a certain degree of discomfort, redness, and/or irritation during and after treatment. If any discomfort or irritation persists, please notify the clinic.
It is helpful to elevate your legs for the first 48 hours. We also recommend wearing support hose for at least 72 hours after leg vein treatments.
After your treatment, it is not uncommon for the treated veins to remain visible for 3 to 6 weeks before dissipating. This is due to residual clotted blood in the vessel.
In some cases, the treated skin may blister. Do not scratch or open the blister—this could cause permanent scarring and/or infection. Keep the areas clean and apply antibiotic ointment as needed. Treated correctly, the blister will heal without scarring.
A red scab may form under the skin. It may appear for a few weeks and then will be reabsorbed by the body. This is supposed to happen and is a sign of a successful treatment.
You can expect treated areas to remain somewhat red and swollen for the first 24 to 48 hours. In some cases, this may last up to 1 week.
For best results, do not engage in vigorous aerobic activity such as running, hiking, or aerobic exercise for approximately 72 hours post treatment.
It is advised to remain out of the sun for one week. It is recommended that you use medical grade sun block for any sun exposure.
The skin of the treated areas may tend to itch. This is a sign of healing. Keep areas hydrated with moisturizer and apply hydrocortisone cream to itchy areas 3-4 times daily until itchiness subsides.
