Targeted Solutions for Deeper Skin Concerns

Clinical Chemical Peels | DermaEnvy Skincare

For clients seeking more intensive skin rejuvenation, our clinical chemical peels are formulated to address deeper issues such as hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles. These treatments may cause mild flaking and require a recovery period of approximately 7 to 10 days. Our skin experts will customize the peel strength to your skin’s specific needs for optimal results.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

How Chemical Peels Work | DermaEnvy Skincare

Chemical peels involve the application of a carefully formulated chemical solution to the skin, designed to induce controlled exfoliation. This process gently removes the outer layers of damaged or dead skin cells, encouraging the regeneration of fresh, healthier skin underneath. As a result, the skin appears smoother, brighter, and rejuvenated with improved texture and tone.

The intensity and recovery time of the treatment depend on the type and strength of the chemical peel used. Mild peels typically offer minimal to no downtime, making them ideal for those seeking gentle skin renewal. In contrast, more aggressive peels promote deeper exfoliation, which may result in mild flaking or peeling and require a healing period of 7 to 10 days.

Following your skincare professional’s personalized aftercare instructions is essential to maximize treatment benefits, reduce side effects, and support safe, effective skin healing.

    • Exfoliates outer dead skin cells to reveal a healthy new layer

    • Helps minimize fine lines, creases, dark spots and scars

    • Helps brighten dull, blotchy and uneven complexions

    • Helps reduce the appearance of blemishes

    • Shown to stimulate collagen and elastin production for firmer skin

    • Improves the appearance of acne blemishes, blackheads and large pores

    • Fights sun damage, discolouration, age spots and scarring

    • Beneficial for face and body

    • Treat your skin with a physical exfoliator once daily for one week before the peel to prepare the skin for ultimate absorption and enhanced results.

    • One week before the peel avoid waxing, electrolysis, depilatory creams, and laser hair removal.

    • Two to three days before the peel discontinue using any prescription topicals such as Retin-A, differin or Tazorac, as well as any products containing retinol, alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA), beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) or benzoyl peroxide.

    • Patients who have had any medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures such as Laser treatments, cosmetic fillers or other surgical procedures should wait until skin sensitivity has completely resolved before receiving a peel.

  • Be aware of what to expect post treatment. Normal post-peel reactions include:

    • Swelling, inflammation, redness or sensitivity

    • Gradual darkening of the skin in the treated area (the skin will shed)

    • Flaking, crusting, scabbing or in rare instances oozing.

    • Opaque or powdery white skin.

    • Peeling will start 3-5 days after the peel. Do not pick or scratch treated skin but instead keep moisturized.

    • Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours.

    • Treat skin gently washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and pat dry (do not rub).

    • Apply a quality moisturizer to keep dry skin hydrated and to restore some moisture. It should be free of harsh chemicals and irritants (such as acids, fragrance and/or acne treatments) which could upset your already sensitive skin. They should also be water-based as moisturizers with high water content are nice and lightweight on the skin. (Bear in mind that moisturizing will prolong the peeling process because softened skin won’t flake off as quickly.)

    • As always, be sure to apply SPF daily to protect your especially sensitive skin.

  • You should not use a skin peel if:

    • You are currently taking antibiotics, Accutane or oral steroids, or if you have done so within the past year.

    • You have a tendency to form keloid scars.

    • You have previously experienced cold sores on the mouth or face or have a health condition that affects your immune system or your body’s ability to heal.

    • You are undergoing cancer treatments, including chemotherapy and/or radiation.

    • You have been treated with a hair removal system in the past two days.

IMPORTANT: If you have any questions, please consult a knowledgeable healthcare professional before your appointment.
