How Does Advanced Corrective Work?
Advanced Corrective IPL works by delivering precise pulses of broad-spectrum light energy into the skin, where it is selectively absorbed by specific targets — either melanin (pigment) or oxyhemoglobin (blood vessels). That light energy converts to heat, which breaks down unwanted pigmented cells or collapses visible vascular structures. Your body then naturally eliminates the treated tissue over the following days and weeks, revealing progressively clearer, more even skin. At the same time, the controlled light stimulates collagen and elastin production in the deeper dermis — improving skin firmness, tone, and texture with each session.

The LUCENT IPL™ system uses five specialized filters, each calibrated to a specific wavelength that targets a different skin concern. Your DermaEnvy skincare professional will select the right filter — or combination — based on your skin type and treatment goals.
430nm Filter — Acne Treatment Targets the bacteria responsible for inflammatory acne. Ideal for clients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris who want a non-pharmaceutical approach to clearer skin.
515nm & 560nm Filters — Pigmentation Correction Absorbed by melanin in the skin, these wavelengths break down benign pigmented lesions including sun spots, age spots, freckles (ephelides), melasma, dyschromia, and post-acne discolouration. The 560nm filter also targets superficial vascular concerns.
585nm Filter — Vascular & Rosacea Treatment Specifically absorbed by oxyhemoglobin in blood vessels, the 585nm filter is used to treat rosacea, facial redness, telangiectasias (broken capillaries), spider angiomas, port wine stains, hemangiomas, and poikiloderma of Civatte. Particularly effective for deeper lesions and skin types I–IV.
640nm Filter — Deep Pigmentation & Collagen Stimulation Penetrates deeper into the dermis to address more stubborn pigmented lesions and stimulate collagen and elastin production. This filter is especially effective for skin type IV and helps improve skin texture and firmness over time.
Not sure which filter applies to your concern? That's exactly what your complimentary consultation is for — our skincare professionals will assess your skin and build a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

To ensure your safety and the best possible outcome, please follow these pre-treatment guidelines:
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks before your appointment — tanned skin increases the risk of pigmentary changes
Discontinue self-tanner at least 2 weeks prior to treatment
Avoid alcohol for 48 hours before your session
Inform your skincare professional if you have taken oral Isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 12 months
Disclose any photosensitizing medications (including certain antibiotics, retinoids, or herbal supplements that increase light sensitivity)
Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, lotions, or fragrance on the treatment area
Remove all jewelry and metal accessories from the treatment area prior to your session
If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), please let your provider know in advance, as prophylactic treatment may be recommended before your session.
-
Proper aftercare protects your results and supports healthy healing:
Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily on all treated areas — reapply every two hours when outdoors
Avoid direct sun exposure and saunas for at least 4 weeks following treatment
Mild redness and warmth in the treated area for a few hours after your session is normal and expected
Pigmented lesions (sun spots, age spots) may temporarily darken in the days following treatment before naturally flaking or fading — this is part of the healing process; do not pick or scrub these areas
Vascular lesions may also appear darker initially as a result of blood coagulation — this is temporary
Keep the skin well moisturized and avoid harsh exfoliants or active skincare ingredients for at least one week
If you experience mild swelling, especially around the nose or under-eye area, this is normal and typically resolves within hours to a few days
Contact your DermaEnvy clinic promptly if you notice any unexpected skin reactions

How Is Advanced Corrective IPL Different from Standard IPL?
Standard IPL photofacials are well-suited for general skin maintenance and mild surface concerns. Advanced Corrective IPL is engineered for clients who need greater precision and correction:
- Five specialized filters (430nm to 640nm) versus a single or dual-filter standard IPL — enabling targeted treatment of pigment, vascular, and acne concerns in one system
- Adjustable pulse modes and fluence levels allow treatment of deeper or more stubborn lesions with greater safety
- Full customization by skin type (Fitzpatrick I–IV) ensures appropriate energy levels for your complexion
- Advanced contact cooling makes treatment comfortable and protects surrounding tissue
- Clinically suitable for a wider range of conditions, including inflammatory acne — which standard IPL cannot address
Who Is Advanced Corrective IPL Best Suited For?
This treatment is ideal for adults (18+) with Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV who are experiencing:
- Moderate-to-severe sun damage or photoaging
- Persistent hyperpigmentation that hasn't responded to topical treatments
- Chronic redness, rosacea, or visible broken capillaries
- Mild to moderate inflammatory acne
- Uneven skin tone and texture following years of sun exposure
A complimentary consultation with your DermaEnvy skincare professional will confirm your skin type, assess your concerns, and build a customized treatment plan before any sessions begin.
